The Bay Window Alone Is Worth This Echo Park Home’s $3,150-a-Month Rent
“Anyone who’s apartment hunted in Los Angeles knows it’s not for the faint of heart, but after nearly a month of searching, we stumbled upon a listing on Zillow that just felt right,” begins interior designer Emmy Cone-Parnes. “The large bay window and the flood of natural light sold us immediately. While the space was small and lacked some character, we could easily picture how we’d make it our own.”

Emmy and her partner, Andrew, only had a few suitcases when they moved into this 700-square-foot Echo Park apartment from Brooklyn. Rather than be daunted by the prospect of having to fill a one-bedroom apartment, Emmy and Andrew instead took this as “an opportunity to collect new pieces together that represented our aesthetic and lifestyle. We aimed to make our home warm, inviting, and inspiring, with a mix of new and vintage furniture.”
Emmy says the urge to make the space feel finished right away was strong as a designer. “But instead of rushing to fill the space with quick, cheap finds, we decided to take our time and gradually collect smaller pieces like lighting, accent tables, and accessories that we truly loved, rather than just things to fill the gaps,” Emmy writes. “We started with the essentials — like the bed, sofa, desk, and desk chair — and filled in the rest over time. Looking back, I’m really glad we took our time designing the space, because it allowed us to collect pieces we love and will appreciate for years to come.”
“As an interior designer, I feel my home is a true reflection of who I am,” Emmy continues describing of their home. “The pieces within my space give an inside look into what I gravitate towards, what inspires me, and the experiences I’ve had along the way. Our art collection is really special to us, with most pieces picked up during our years in Brooklyn or from our travels. Each piece takes me back to where we got it and the memories from that time, which is nice — especially in a new place.”
