Set Sail on a Luxury Cruise Ship with Elizabeth Taylor’s Fine Art and Household Decor
Elizabeth Taylor lived quite the lavish lifestyle. And now, many of her personal effects are going to auction. The three-time Academy Award-winning actress was known for her extravagant evening gowns and haute couture ensembles, and the auction will feature many of her designer fashions, film costumes, jewelry, and wigs. But in addition to a killer fashion sense, she also had a keen eye for design. As such, the auction will also include fine art and household items from her many residences around the world, including a gilt-bronze lamp that’s worth an estimated $15,000-$20,000.
The “Property from the Lifestyle of Elizabeth Taylor” auction will take place from Friday, December 6th through Sunday, December 8th in Beverly Hills and live online. But first, the exhibition will be on display in a unique way. Luxury cruise line Cunard and celebrity auction house Julien’s Auctions partnered with House of Taylor, the entity that preserves the actress’ legacy, to show the auction exhibition aboard flagship liner Queen Mary 2. Taylor’s personal effects will be on display on the October 18th Transatlantic Crossing that departs out of Southampton, England.
“It is an honor to offer our guests an exclusive preview of Elizabeth Taylor’s stunning collection on board Queen Mary 2 and give our passengers an experience available only on Cunard,” said Josh Leibowitz, SVP Cunard North America, in a press release. “Elizabeth Taylor was a fan of Cunard and sailed frequently on our ships.”
Aboard the Queen Mary 2, the “Property from the Lifestyle of Elizabeth Taylor” auction exhibition will rotate daily to show the full range of Taylor’s personal collection. Guests will also have an exclusive opportunity to bid on items in advance before the general auction takes place in December. If you’re a fan of Taylor’s (or if you’re in the market for some fine art with incredible history), mark your calendar now so you don’t miss the auction.
