Ellen’s Design Challenge: Meet Bradley
Name: Bradley L Bowers
City: Miami, FL
Style: I use the term “future-monk” to describe my style. I avoid decoration and I love to let the purity of materials merge with really funky and exciting shapes & forms.
Carpenter paired with: Matt Muenster
What are your design strengths?
Follow-through; I think it is an underrated quality and one of my greatest assets and strengths.
What are your design weaknesses?
I am insistent. I don’t really think it is a weakness, but it has caused some trouble in my career. I have a vision and I am determined to see it to fruition.
How did you end up auditioning for Ellen’s Design Challenge?
I actually received a call from a fellow SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) alumnus asking if I would be interested in speaking with one of the casting directors. It was one of those moments that can’t be planned or prepared for. It was divine.
What challenge from last season would you have loved to compete in? Which one would you pass on?
I would love to have done the storage unit challenge. I love coming up with new ways to address common ideas. I was not a fan of the first challenge, where they had to convert an empty box into a piece of furniture.
On a scale of 1 to 5 sweater vests, how amazing is Ellen in person?
Ellen is in a league of her own. It can’t be measured, but if I had to I’d say from 1 to 5 she’s a… 14!
