Erin Napier Colormatched Her Kitchen Cabinets To Mrs. Patmore’s In “Downton Abbey”
Erin and Ben Napier are finally done with the restoration of their 1930s brick Tudor in Mississippi and the after photos are beyond beautiful. Erin was deeply inspired by traditional and stately English country homes during her design process, which ultimately led her to paint her kitchen the same exact color as Mrs. Patmore’s from “Downton Abbey.”
“It’s been the joy of my career to design another house for us, but this time as an hour-long #HGTVHomeTown documentary! I will finally be able to share so many photos now that it’s all out there in the wild!” Napier captioned December 5 Instagram post. “A few favorites to mention first: I was so inspired by Ms. Patmore’s kitchen from Downton Abbey and tried to match that buttery worn golden cream color of the cabinets.”
She also accessorized the space with a Victorian-inspired freestanding worktable and lighting fixtures that look similar to the copper pots that line Mrs. Patmore’s back wall.
The kitchen was also accented with beams to match the rest of the home (which Ben built himself), BlueStar appliances in brown black enamel “in a nod to antique kitchen appliances,” and honed mist granite countertops.
Although the kitchen was inspired by the English countryside, one commenter wrote that the kitchen “instantly made me think of a @nancymeyersinteriors set and I can’t think of a nicer compliment I could give.” And we can definitely see that, too! More of the Napiers’ renovation process will be shown on upcoming episodes of “Home Town” on HGTV. So stay tuned to both Erin’s Instagram and the show to see how her English inspiration took form in the countryside of Mississippi.
