Have you ever tried to do a little DIY flower arrangement, but found that your best effort still ends up droopy, with your flowers seem to be dangling around their vase? Just me? Either way, there’s a super-simple hack to get your flowers to stand up correctly that uses items you definitely already own.

TikToker and home decor expert @offliveoak has shared a hack that solves the problem of getting floral arrangements to stand properly inside big vases. The solution is so obvious that you’ll say, “Why didn’t I think of that?”

In her video, she first demonstrates what not to do. She places a bunch of silver dollar eucalyptus inside a big vase and lets them droop, resulting in a lackluster display. However, the fix is simple: She hides a smaller vase inside the big vase prior to adding the plants.

The effect is a stark contrast to the previous arrangement: a big vase with its plants firmly standing straight for all to see and admire.

The hack is so simple that even her followers couldn’t believe it. “Why do I never think about what seems like the simplest hacks?! Thank you!” reads one comment, while another added: “I love this!! Floppy florals no more.”

In a following post, she also shared a hack on creating a Valentine’s Day centerpiece, which along with a candle, you can place next to the big vase for a more complete look.

Making floral arrangements can feel daunting to non-experts, but hacks like this also show that the craft is not as impossible as it seems.
