This NYC townhouse dating back to the late 1800s is already filled with plenty of charm, but the significance escalates when you realize history was made under its very roof. In 1905, President Theodore Roosevelt walked his niece Eleanor down the aisle to marry Franklin, the future president, in this very spot (it belonged to a close relative of the family). And now, the Upper East Side apartment—containing all this history in addition to a glamorous interior—is up for sale.

Located inside a mansion on East 76th Street, this 1,400 square foot unit is complete with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It’s been renovated since Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt tied the knot, but the Parisian feel of the apartment still stands.

The foyer leads into the airy living room, which feels bright with light brown walls and a crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Also, it’s worth noting the intricately carved mantel that surrounds the wood-burning fireplace (imagine cozying up to that in the winter?). The kitchen is colored in with white lacquer cabinets and stainless steel appliances.

The first bedroom is located off the living room in one wing of the apartment, while the master bedroom with a fireplace and the last bedroom are located in the other. Regardless of the size, each bedroom is equipped with elegant ceiling fixtures and have a bathroom nearby.

The windows reveal the scenic tree-lined street between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue, and the co-op allows pied-a-terres, subletting, and pets. The unit does not include washer or dyer (although the next tenants are allowed to install one), but there is a laundry room in the building.
