As a home editor, I live for discovering cool, new brands — especially when they’re outside of the U.S. So many amazingly talented people are out there, creating and curating all over the world, and I’m so happy when I stumble upon something special, whether traveling or just scrolling on Instagram.

To help you on your own journey of finding, I did some legwork for you by creating this starter list of some of my favorite global home decor companies. From super-small makers to bigger brands, here’s a collection of awesome purveyors that all ship to the U.S. — some even have brick and mortar stores set up here! Whether you’re here to shop or just want to browse (some of these pieces are a bit pricey, considering their handcrafted nature), I hope you enjoy looking at these gorgeous items. I know I will!

1. Society of Wanderers (Australia)

This Australian brand has the prettiest home goods made of French flax linen that gets softer over time. Their collections include bed and table linens, loungewear, curtains, and more, all in the happiest color combos and most playful prints. One of the best parts of their site is perusing their styled bedding shots for ideas on mixing different patterns in unexpected ways. I’m currently dying for one of their splurge-worthy double-sided quilts to brighten up my bedroom, but in the meantime, I ordered a couple of their totes (made from the same linen as their bedding) to add some happy to my summer wardrobe staples.

2. Host Home (United Kingdom)

Born out of a desire for more affordable and unique home goods for herself, founder Sophie Warburton started Host Home. The brand designs all of their own products and works directly with manufacturers to cut down on overhead costs and keep the cost of their products down, which they pass onto consumers with their DTC business model. Check out their collection of tuliperie vases, large hand-painted pitchers, and metal flower sculptures.

Buy: Foglia Jug, $81.15 from Host Home

3. Dar Leone (United Kingdom)

Founded by Sierra Leonean-American Isatu Funna (who is now based in Britain), Dar Leone is inspired by Funna’s travels and her home city of Freetown. The intricately beaded furniture they offer is jaw-droppingly beautiful, and each piece is a true work of art. I’m also very into all the beautiful prints inspired by traditional West African textiles but reimagined with poppy, fresh color combos. A favorite of mine is this Empire Lampshade that features a hibiscus pattern (which flowers all over Sierra Leone) and comes in four fun colorways. Buy it to dress up that old lamp you were getting ready to donate.

Buy: Ronko Lilac Small Empire Lampshade, $82.35 from Dar Leone

4. Nordic Knots (Sweden)

This family-owned business (Fabian Berglund, his wife Liza Laserow-Berglund, and Fabian’s brother, Felix Berglund) makes high-quality rugs inspired by traditional Scandinavian design with a modern twist. All of the rugs are woven by artisans in Bhadohi, India, and are GoodWeave certified, meaning they’re made by adults and not forced or with child labor. Among my favorites is this Folding Ribbon rug; I love the warm palette of rust and pink.

Buy: Folding Ribbon Rug, Starts at $945.00 from Nordic Knots

5. The Fabled Thread (United Kingdom)

Inspired by her grandmother, who makes a new embroidery sampler for every new child that comes into their family, Eppie Thompson developed The Fabled Thread after she discovered her own love of sewing. All of the embroidery kits are whimsical and colorful, some meant to be framed and others designed to be used as pillows. She also sells a collection of hand-painted frames that work perfectly with the samplers as well as separate paints and frames for making your own. If I had the patience to embroider, I’d be all over this collection of “Just So” pillow kits, which take their subjects and motifs from the stories of the same name by Rudyard Kipling.

Buy: Just So Embroidery Kits, Starts at $53.71 from The Fabled Thread

6. Mo’s Crib (South Africa)

With an emphasis on sustainability, Mo’s Crib was founded by sister duo Mo and Michelle Mokone in South Africa and employs fair-wage female artisans to create all their products. Their baskets, wall art, trays, and planters are all made using recycled PVC or responsibly-sourced natural grasses. This basket, which uses reclaimed PVC pipes, is the perfect size for housing a plant, corralling dog toys, or stashing winter hats and scarves.

Buy: Spark Orange – Recycled PVC Basket/Planter, $109.00 from Mo’s Crib

7. Cambridge Imprint (United Kingdom)

Few things give me as much simple satisfaction as a beautifully hand-printed piece of paper, and so naturally, when I found Cambridge Imprint, I was pretty excited. Not only do they have an extensive line of hand-printed papers (if you go to the “organized by color” option to view all the papers, it’s very soothing), but they also make a line of home goods from them, like the sweetest lampshades and prettiest pencil pots. The desk of my dreams includes a couple of these letter trays, even if I don’t have any letters to put in them. I’m just a sucker for stylish storage solutions!

Buy: A4 Letter Tray Dandelion Blue, $34.61 from Cambridge Imprints

8. ecru (Kuwait)

Founded by three childhood friends, Nur Kaoukji, Noor Al Sabah, and Hussah Al Tamimi, ecru is inspired by the early rituals and hospitality of Arab culture. As of last year, they began shipping to the U.S. and internationally, and I’m glad they did. They have some really standout pieces I’d love to bring into my own apartment! A favorite of mine is this quirky and elegant alabaster nut bowl that is a huge splurge but would make any host or hostess happy.

Buy: Samarkand Nut Bowl, $343.58 from ecru

9. Bed Threads (Australia)

This Australian brand started with (and is probably best known for) its gorgeous, high-quality flax linen bedding but has now extended to bath, sleepwear, and homewares. These scalloped cushion covers are a favorite of mine, and Bed Threads offers all of their bedding in 21 beautiful colors, so that there’s no shortage of options. Try buying a mix of colors for your sheets, duvet, and shams for a cool, color-blocked look.

Buy: Scalloped Euro Cushion Covers, $120.00 for a pair from Bed Threads

10. Laverée (Korea)

Founded by fashion entrepreneur Jong Min Baek, this Korean luxury detergent just made its U.S. debut with a new brick-and-mortar popup in New York City. Baek started Laverée with a belief that even the most industrial products in our lives should be beautifully designed and that we should take good care of the clothes we wear. All of the detergents are free of irritants and toxic dyes and made with planet-friendly ingredients. They scented ones are pretty dreamy smelling, too, if you ask me.

Buy: Wind Laundry Detergent, $45.00 from Laverée

11. Mind The Gap (Romania)

With a mix of wallpapers, lighting, fabrics, cushions, and furniture, this brand “pays homage to every corner of the world” while their roots are in Transylvania, where they have their headquarters and production facility. I love their lampshades that are covered with their signature fabrics, especially this splurgey one with a cheerful embroidered Hungarian folk pattern.

Buy: Embroidered Lampshade, $200.00 from Mind the Gap

12. In Casa by Paboy (Italy by way of Gambia)

I have been a fan of Paboy Bojang’s happy, hand-crafted pillows since he began making them during the lockdown in spring of 2020. They quickly caught the eye of many an editor and lover of all things home. He has an amazing story (which you can read more about here), and his pillows can now be found on popular online e-comm sites like Farfetch and Selfridges as well as on his own site. While I love his new bolster pillow collection, I have to say my favorites are his original, grandmillenial-esque frilly cushions, as seen here.

Buy: Blue Pillow Peach Ruffle, $202.86 from In Casa by Paboy

13. Unwind Studio (Portugal)

Just as the name implies, this Portuguese company sells needlepoint kits that help people relax and unwind. From abstract pieces that become frame-worthy works of art after you finish embroidering them to simple kits for kids to craft on their own, Unwind Studio has something for everyone at every skill level.

Buy: Abstract Vase Needlepoint Kit, $72.60 from Unwind Studio

14. Remember (Germany)

German brand Remember has a large collection of happy lifestyle and decor products that will cheer up any corner of your home. I’m especially into this woven indoor/outdoor chair (that also has a matching lounge table) for a leveled-up patio. Don’t need a whole new furniture set? This color-blocked Leisure Ball can make picnic hangs with summer sport activities a little more colorful.

Buy: Lounge Chair TOGO, $271.32 from Remember

15. OKA (United Kingdom)

If you’re looking for decor that exudes British style (which, as this brand describes it, is “elegant but easy going; sophisticated but never stiff”), OKA is a great place to peruse. Think classic and cozy roll arm upholstered furniture, carefully curated textiles inspired by travels (I love their collection of pillow covers!), and lots of rattan. OKA even has two IRL U.S. stores (Houston and Dallas), and more are coming soon. This is definitely a brand to watch.

Buy: Cyma Pillow Cover, $90.00 from OKA

16. SGHR Sugahara (Japan)

Using traditional Japanese techniques, the artisans at Sugahara create beautiful, inventive dinnerware, drinkware, and decor — all made of glass. Check out their kid’s line for the cutest petite plates and drinking glasses, and their colored glass bowls are perfect for fancying up your morning cereal or corralling odds and ends on a shelf or table.

Buy: Javableue Bowl, $74.80 from SGHR Sugahara

17. Bitossi Home (Italy)

One of my favorites on the list, Italian brand Bitossi Home, is brimming with playful patterns and cheerful colors, and it’s a little too easy to get sucked into browsing their site for hours (believe me, I’ve been there). I love all of their glasses sets, like these beer glasses. Each of the six in the assortment has a different shape and color to mix things up and make it easier to tell whose glass is whose at your next dinner party.

Buy: Set 6 Beer Glasses Assorted Shapes, $80.64 from Bitossi Home

18. Eva Sonaike (United Kingdom)

Founder Eva Sonaike’s pieces (wallpapers, lampshades, poufs, cushions, and more) are all made using fabrics inspired by vibrant West African-inspired textiles and designed by Sonaike herself, who is of Nigerian origin. The poufs would brighten up any room. I’m currently daydreaming about the Ona Pouffe in pink.

Buy: Ona Pouffe, $295.63 from Eva Sonaike

19. People of The Sun (Malawi)

Committed to preserving the centuries-old craft tradition of the indigenous population in Malawi, People of The Sun employs low-income artisans. The sustainably-made home products range from decor like mirrors and hand-carved animal boxes to wall hooks and furniture. They even have a whole “Imperfects” section, which includes pieces that have — you guessed it! — small imperfections and are thus sold at a lower price so as not to waste them.

Buy: Sleeping Animals in Terracotta, $39.22 each from People of the Sun

20. Eccentré Studio (United Arab Emirates)

With a small but mighty line of modern, sculptural pieces, Eccentré Studio marries functionality with design. The coolest thing about the first collections (aptly called “Wiggle”) is that every piece is meant to be modular, so you can stack Wiggle Trays on top of each other if you want. I love how multi-purpose each of these pieces is and how you can rethink the way that you use them if you get bored of a specific setup.

Buy: Wiggle Trinket Tray, $34.03 from Eccentré Studio
