Our home was a cookie cutter home that we have customized. We wanted to build a custom home but didn’t have the time with two kids and a newborn. We settled on a production built home and over the last six years we’ve transformed almost every space. We want our home to be warm, inviting, comfortable but most importantly we want our home to be us!

Each space has a defining wall. Wall treatments always make the biggest impact. They add personality, character, charm, and interest to a space. We’re also big fans of comfort. We have four children, two goldendoodles, and a cat and we want them to know that this is their home, too. There isn’t an off-limits space. All are welcome!

What is your favorite room and why? My favorite room is our den. It has the biggest window in the house and I live for all that Vitamin D! The Farrow and Ball hue was a risk that I would do all over again. It’s moody but not dark. It’s current but not trendy. It’s a timeless space that welcomes guests and immediately informs them that this home isn’t like the rest!

If you could magically change something about your home, what would it be? I would without a doubt change the layout of the kitchen. The size of the kitchen and the amount of storage is ideal for our family but I would like to have an oversized island that offered more seating and prep space. I’d also really dig a window over a sink overlooking the backyard!

Any advice for creating a home you love? Do you and filter the influence! So often we make choices based on other people’s opinions. Our parents, our friends, social media. They all influence us in ways that impact our lives and our homes.

I have made a conscious effort to design our home to reflect us. It’s not for everybody and I’m more than alright with that. My best advice for creating a home you love, do you and filter the influence. Buy pieces you love even if that means your mom hates them!

Thanks, Nicole!
