Most of us will never have the chance to hike the Great Wall of China in real life. But thanks to the recent profusion of of virtual tours, we can check it out from home. The China Guide is now offering a virtual tour of the Great Wall.

“As China’s most famous attraction, the Great Wall of China is an essential stop on all China tours,” writes the travel agency. “Commonly considered a wonder of the world, the Great Wall boasts a history of over 2,000 years and stretches more than 3,000 miles across several provinces of northern China, making it one of the most impressive ancient structures on the planet.”

The website shows three sections of the Great Wall, which you can view as 360-degree images. One is a stunning look at the wall in winter, with snow covering the path and the surrounding mountains illuminated by what looks like early-morning light. Another shows a watchtower, elevated above the path, where other tourists are taking a break from their hikes. The third is a section of the wall between Jinshanling and Simatai in northeast China.

The China Guide organizes real-life tours around the country, which you could bookmark for a vacation once the pandemic is over. It also offers information about different sections of the Great Wall — which are most famous, crowded, or beautiful. It recommends the Jinshanling section for its stunning views and those in Gubeikou and Jiankou for experienced hikers.
