Gwyneth Paltrow’s 3D Wallpaper Will Make You Want to Stop and Smell the Flowers
Even though Gwyneth Paltrow is known for having aspirational taste and a lifestyle that hardly feels relatable to most people, inspiration can be found in her recent Architectural Digest home tour, and can be recreated in a space on a
Paltrow tells AD she found inspiration for the home she built “from the ground up” during her time as an expat in Europe in her younger years, blending classic and traditional with contemporary by way of furniture, accessories, and other finishing touches. Taking the cameras into her powder room, she showed off hand-painted 3D wallpaper created by Los Angeles-based art studio MJ Atelier, in a rich navy shade with white flowers that add texture to the mixed metals in the bathroom’s fixtures and accessories. Paltrow calls the room one of her “favorite little rooms in the house,” joking, “I love it. It makes me feel very grown up when I pee in here.” She also has hand-painted MJ Atelier wallpaper in the home’s dining room, offering a romantic contrast to the contemporary furniture and “futuristic” chandelier, which she dubs “a little bit Star Trek.” Of the tree-lined wallpaper in soft shades of blue and gray, Paltrow says, “I love that the wallpaper really grounds the room in a kind of more traditional feel.” She also gave props to the pros at MJ Atelier for creating the custom prints for her. Of course, it might not be in your budget to buy custom-made hand-designed wallpaper (or to have a home with a private spa, a $62,000 indoor hanging hammock swing, or a fully marble jade bar), but you can install similar styled wall panels in any space — making them an especially great pick for renters. AD recommends this wallet-friendly village wall mural similar to Paltrow’s dining room on Etsy (starting at $22.65), a fully removable peel-and-stick option that will add texture to any room in your home. While it might not be 3D, this navy blue floral print is even more affordable than the village mural, starting at just $6.50 per panel, brightening up any space with Bayberry blossoms set against a rich blue background.
