When it comes to home renovation shows, you usually know what to expect: a dated home that needs some sprucing, a heartfelt story that makes the dated home more meaningful to renovate, and the incredible transformation and reveal that brings its owners a new place they’re proud to call home. But HGTV is taking that format to the next level with their new show that doesn’t just give one worthy home a facelift, but a town in its entirety.

The upcoming series is a spinoff from HGTV’s “Home Town,” which is about hosts Ben and Erin revitalizing historic properties in their hometown of Laurel, Mississippi. But now, the Southern couple are hitting the road for “Home Town Takeover” to give one lucky town the facelift of a lifetime. And the most exciting part is that your town could be it.

The destination must have a population of 40,000, and applicants are encouraged to “highlight aspects of their town that make it special, fascinating, historic or unique,” according to the HGTV announcement. This means any stand-out architecture, iconic main streets, history that needs to be preserved…anything that really makes the town special.

“This is a big one,” Erin Napier said of the new show in a press release. “HGTV has never, ever taken on a whole town-renovation-and-restoration project, and we’re so proud and excited to be leading the team that will get it done.”

To apply, head to HGTVhometownmakeover.com, where you’ll have to provide basic contact information, photos and videos of your town, and why you think it should be selected for the massive renovation project. The application deadline is February 7, 2020, so be sure to submit your home before then for consideration.

It’s going to be a fairly long process, and the six-episode show isn’t expected to air until sometime in 2021. However, in the meantime, you can catch the Napier family on their new season of “Home Town” airing Monday, January 20, 2020.
