Sarah Williams’ home, which she purchased four years ago, was built in 1924 in Chicago’s Gold Coast, “a historic neighborhood that has always captivated me with its beauty and charm,” she begins. “The area is steeped in history, with many artists and architects having lived here, and you can feel the creative energy all around.”

“When I first saw this condo, what appealed to me most were the high ceilings, French doors, large windows, and the window seat that overlooks one of Chicago’s iconic landmarks. The charm of the place was undeniable, even though some work was needed to bring it back to life. I decided to put my personal touch on the space, adding fresh paint to not only the walls but also the front door, and adding color to the kitchen cabinets,” she writes.

“I updated the window treatments with light, airy curtains, and simple fixtures. Adding plants and fresh flowers always adds life and fresh energy to a space, and I also love wreaths on doors to add more dimension. When I first moved in, there was so much extra space in the living room, near the windows was a perfect place to put a dining area. Although there is more, I would still love to do, you can update a space at a minimal cost with just a few adjustments,” Williams continues.

“I love the simplicity and airiness of the space, which is perfect for me and my rescue dog, Ava. She loves to run around, do her zoomies, and relax in her favorite spot on the couch. She also has her bed in the bedroom and loves staring out the window. She’s super friendly and greets every person and dog that walks by… also love that it’s a dog friendly neighborhood.”
