Ah, The Home Depot. Whether you know it as the place to go when you need to do repairs, return that dead plant, or buy the famous 12-foot yard skeleton, the hardware store giant is there for all your home needs. In fact, the chain is also a great place to find all sorts of furniture — especially if you’re looking to switch things up on a budget or stage your home to sell.

To get some insight on how to best navigate the aisles of this hallowed hardware store, I reached out to Cathy Hobbs, a home stager and interior designer based in New York City. She’s got some serious credentials — including multiple Emmy awards and appearances on Good Morning America and HGTV. Here’s what she suggested picking up from The Home Depot to make your place shine on a budget.

What a Home Stager Would Buy at The Home Depot for $200

Below, a home stager’s product picks from The Home Depot. Every product is under $200 and nothing involves complicated tools, which makes it the perfect solution for quick decor or staging needs.

Irregular Gold Aluminum Framed Mirror
$168$106

“Unique shaped mirrors are one of the hottest trends in home decor right now, and decor items in a brass finish remain on-trend,” Hobbs says, so you’re getting an item that’ll turn heads now and for years to come. This mirror is funky but not too funky, so it’ll fit in pretty much any room in your home and appeal to buyers (provided you have a wall to mount it on). Plus, you can always use another mirror.

Floating Wall Shelves
$55

These shelves may look simple, but they can serve as a versatile secret weapon — especially in rooms that may not be very spacious to give potential buyers an idea of the storage solutions they can employ if they move into your space. “Instead of a bulky wall unit or bookcase, a great alternative is to incorporate floating shelves. Lighter wood such as birch or ash is more popular these days than darker finishes,” notes Hobbs. You get multiple shelves in this set, so you can easily install them all in the same place or spread them out throughout multiple rooms or walls.

Pala Natural Rattan Round Coffee Table
$199$159

Most homes have a coffee table, but this particular coffee table has a unique spherical shape instead of the typical rectangular one. “Rattan was all the rage in the '70s, and it is certainly back. Caned furniture as well as rattan is a wonderful addition to a modern, relaxed space,” Hobbs says. The rattan design allows you to peek into the coffee table, which you can leave empty or use for storage, as the top is removable — another fun surprise.

Modern Globe Chandelier
$199$159

Don’t underestimate the power of changing the lighting in your home. Even if you’ve already found the type of lightbulb that makes you feel your best, it doesn’t hurt to switch up the lighting fixture — especially if you want to move away from builder-grade. This contemporary riff on a chandelier, which features five frosted glass orbs, can do just that. As Hobbs puts it, “Sometimes all you need is a bit of bling to make what was old feel new again.”

Mocha Wood Mid-Century Modern TV Stand
$180

One way to make a room feel new is to refresh your more practical furniture, which may be overlooked in favor of old reliable standbys. “Case goods such as TV stands and side boards help to ‘anchor’ a space and serve as a focal point,” says Hobbs, and this mid-century-modern-inspired TV stand gives you storage and utility while bringing an air of maturity and sophistication. “Selecting a piece made out of wood helps to ensure the selection is timeless,” adds Hobbs. And the “unique” reeded sliding doors add an eye-catching touch.
