Your bedroom is probably the most personal (and private) place in your home. Out of all the rooms in the house, it’s the one that’s truly yours (and your partner’s, if you have one). But when you’re trying to sell your house you want it to appeal to other people, not just yourself. That’s where staging — aka rearranging and/or redecorating part or all of your home before showing it to potential buyers — can come in handy.

There are all sorts of tips for staging your bedroom in particular, but if you really want to make an impact, it helps to bring a pro onboard. Working with a professional home stager doesn’t mean you’ll have to do a complete overhaul of your bedroom. Smaller details can make a big difference, and they’re usually cheaper and don’t require too much heavy lifting. For some inspiration, we turned to Steve and Nikki Carlson of Cottage + Sea, a California-based home staging and renovating company, to see what items they’d pick out at Anthropologie to give your bedroom a cozy, vintage-inspired, and distinct look all for under $200. And I’ll say it: I want everything they’ve offered.

Adelina Velvet Pillow
$48

You might love your lumpy, lived-in emotional support pillows, but buyers might not. Switching up your bed’s pillows (or at least the decorative ones) is a great way to add sophistication to your bedroom. “Green velvet is an effortless way to elevate a room,” Steve and Nikki say. This pillow comes in several shades, like the neutral pink pictured here, but the green hue is “neutral enough to blend seamlessly in the room and appeal to anyone, but also adds a pop of color.”

Woven Jacquard Patterned Throw Blanket
$68

“Adding layers to a bed can make the entire room look luxurious,” say Steve and Nikki. This floral throw blanket’s vintage grandma-chic look “brings a warm and inviting feel, especially with the botanical pattern that will tie with the other decor in the room.” That’s not all — it’ll also match well with the pink along the edge of the Adelina pillow, which should impress guests with an eye for detail.

Rainbow Ceramic Bud Vase
$12

Whether you want to impress party guests or open-house attendees, “adding fresh flowers to any room not only adds a beautiful fresh scent and warmth, but can also create feelings that the home is clean and cared for,” Steve and Nikki say. These bud vases are small, cute, cheap, and come in multiple shapes and colors, so they should look nice no matter what you put in them or where you want to place them. Plus, you only need to add one to two flowers per vase — you can fill these bud vases with flowers from Trader Joe’s for just a few dollars.

Voluspa Japonica French Cade & Lavender Glass Jar Candle
$14

“Scents can evoke emotions and make people feel comfortable, so it’s a great way to impact those visiting the space,” note Steve and Nikki. And of course, it’s always pleasant to spend time in a home that smells nice. “Lavender is known for creating calm and reducing stress, which is always a good idea,” they add — and I couldn’t agree more.

Joan Switch Plate
$30

It’s tempting to focus on bigger furniture items when making your room look its best, but as Steve and Nikki point out, “small details can make a huge impact,” even if it’s something as everyday as a light switch. “These switch plates add a little playfulness to the room, but they also bring a unique, elevated, and luxurious element with the brass detail.” They also pair well with the “fresh botanical theme” present in their other choices, like the throw blanket and bud vases.

Helena Knobs, Set of 2
$16

These knobs, available in clear or a subtle glassy pink color, “are great to add to closet doors or dressers to replace older ones to further bring luxury to the space and elevate the room,” they say. Plus, it might not feel quite as tedious to put away clothes and clutter when the drawers you’re opening have an extra touch of glam.

Ceramic Melon Hook
$16

When you want to wow potential buyers, it’s important to show them that your home isn’t just beautiful — it’s also functional. This unique floral-inspired wall hook “is an inexpensive way to add another elevated detail. It’s also a great way to show storage solutions, such as hanging bags, hats, [or] jackets. It also ties in with the other brass accents to bring the room together.”
