I’m one of those people who actually loves the thrill of the hunt when it comes to shopping for my home. If something is on the top shelf, I’ll reach for it. The bottom of a pile? I’ll dig for it. A HomeGoods run sounds exhilarating — not exhausting — to me because you literally never know what you are going to find when you shop there. The brand’s new tagline rings true: “Never shop the same.” No single store is like another, and even your favorite location is never exactly the same from day to day, thanks to the influx of new inventory.

That’s why I was somewhat surprised by a new section I discovered in-store on a recent trip with HomeGoods: the “Limited-Time Collection” section. Meant to be a more curated, shop-within-a-shop experience, the Limited-Time section is all about what’s trending in decor. And some brand fans are loving this area because they know exactly what to expect — and look for — there. That’s why it’s a can’t-miss destination you should check out on your next HG visit.

What Is HomeGoods’ “Limited-Time Collection” Section?

HomeGoods’ Limited-Time Collection section refers to an area at your local HomeGoods store that’s stocked with merchandise that fits a special aesthetic or on-trend theme. Typically located near the front of the store (although look around for signage that says Limited-Time Collection to be sure you’ve actually found it), the merchandise here is highly curated (again, to match a specific trend or decorating story) and rotates regularly. When I visited the store pictured here in Los Angeles last month, the Limited-Time Collection was “Southwest Style.” Sometimes, though, the collection through line can be even broader (think: “Lake House,” for example). Right now, the brand appears to be promoting a Euro trip-inspired offering in this spot.

The vibe in this area feels a lot like a pop-up within the larger HomeGoods floor plan; you still get that thrill of finding something uniquely special, but you don’t have to work as hard to know what you’ll unearth here because everything is selected to fit the theme. That’s where this kind of section can really work for you. Say you know you want to find authentic, made-in-Italy or made-in-France cookware or stoneware at HomeGoods. What’s in this area may be exactly that while the current Limited-Time Collection is “European Finds.” Hacking this section is about staying up to date on what the theme is — and shopping when it speaks to you.

Why You Shouldn’t Skip HomeGoods’ Limited-Time Collection Section

I’m not encouraging you to come up with a whole new way of shopping at HomeGoods or telling you to bypass your go-to sections in-store. But if you tend to beeline to the back of the building and run out of time as you work your way forward — or you only hit up your favorite sections — just remember to keep an eye out for the Limited-Time Collection section and give it a peek.

A lot of what’s in this area is merchandise HomeGoods buyers are especially excited to showcase at any given moment; it’s the pieces they’ve worked hard to get in-store at such competitive prices. So it stands to reason that there are gems to be found there. And if you don’t like a theme, no worries — a new one should be available to shop about every month or so.
