When I come across a home hack that makes me pause mid-scroll, I take it seriously. Some of my favorite ideas have come straight from Apartment Therapy, like modifying a BILLY bookcase from IKEA, so when I saw someone using a hose holder inside their house for storage reasons I immediately started plotting a way to use one too. That’s when I decided to put it to use in my kitchen.

Why a Hose Holder Works as a Brilliant Kitchen Storage Gem

A hose holder is designed to store hoses neatly, but its compact, wall-mounted design makes it surprisingly perfect for way more than just garden gear. Unlike hooks that can feel flimsy, or shelves that can take up visual space, a hose holder combines both. The curved metal arm cradles items instead of just hanging them, and many styles include a small built-in shelf for bonus storage. Because it mounts to the wall, it frees up drawer and counter space, which is especially helpful in kitchens, offices, or laundry rooms where flat surfaces disappear fast.

What Happened When I Put a Hose Holder in My Kitchen

I decided to purchase this hose holder because of its included shelf. I intended to use it to store my Soda Stream bottles when they weren’t in use, because this holder has an integrated shelf. But when it arrived, I learned that I have too many bottles for it to hold them in a way that looks even remotely polished. The same thing happened when I tried to stick our reusable cups and mugs into the shelf. I also wanted to store dish towels on it, but I wasn’t pleased with how far away they’d be from the stove if they were on the hose holder.

I eventually decided that it would be perfect for holding tea supplies. I drink loose-leaf tea almost exclusively, so I have a variety of steepers and implements for making my tea. Now, the hose holder is the new home for my box of drawstring tea bags, all of my steepers, and the box of cleaning tablets for my hot water dispenser. The hose holder is screwed into the wall right above my water dispenser and tea collection, so now my morning routine is much more streamlined. No longer will I be digging through my tea drawers to find the steepers that have somehow migrated to the very bottom.
