Emily lives in the tiniest, sweetest apartment. Guests immediately fall in love with the artwork (her grandfather’s) and the mid-century bar stools. Emily, herself, is calm and inviting amidst the hustle and bustle of New York. She works for an architectural firm, called Sage and Coombe.

Emily’s neighborhood has some great places to stop in at, as well, like Cafe Rue Dix and Abigail’s Bakeshop. Also nearby are the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Brooklyn Museum, and Prospect Park.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style: Eclectic, Mid-Century

Favorite Element: My grandfather’s paintings — growing up, I spent all my weekends in his studio; almost all the art in the apartment is his.

Biggest Challenge: Space — the apartment is so tiny! I have to be extremely selective in everything I choose; most of my furniture I made custom to fit the space.

What Friends Say: So many chairs! They’re right — I’ve never had as many people in the space at one time to sit in every chair (there are 10 chairs and a bench, two are in pieces because I don’t have space for them).

Biggest Embarrassment: As a renter, there are certain things I’d love to change if I could — fireplace backsplash and overhead fan would be where I’d start.

Proudest DIY: I’ve made a good deal of my furniture.

Biggest Indulgence: I’ve got a serious plant addiction.

Best Advice: More on the walls, less on the floor

Dream Sources: I’ve always opined over Hans Wegner’s Architect’s Desk. If only I could find somewhere to put it…
