Chloe and her husband Andy had already purchased another apartment in this building, but when Chloe stumbled across this place, she knew she had to have it. Built as a showroom for the apartment building, this unit was beautifully fitted out with floating floorboards, stunning pendant lighting and sheer curtains (compared to the standard is regular tiles and vertical blinds in other units). But what really makes this space sing is how Chloe brought her own style into this modern space’s mix, making it stand out way beyond its showroom beginnings.

Chloe and Andy’s home is one of stories. Like her great-grandfather’s leather doctor’s bag, passed to her from her grandfather. Or the leather footstool, handmade by her great uncle. Books that Chloe has collected from all over the world are sprinkled around.

But there are also plenty of contemporary pieces to keep the home from feeling too stuffy. Furniture from IKEA and West Elm rub (proverbial) elbows with antiques and Gumtree (similar to Craigslist) finds. It’s not always easy creating harmony with so many different design elements, but Chloe’s eclectic style feels modern and timeless at once.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style: Eclectic/Moroccan/Bohemian

Inspiration: My travels and books

Favorite Element: My bedroom. The colour palette and comfortable sanctuary that we have built makes this room a dream machine.

Biggest Challenge: The Kitchen – two words “sink proportion.”

What Friends Say: A warm and welcoming home. They look around and discover something new every time they visit.

Biggest Embarrassment: Our over-sized kitchen sink.

Proudest DIY: The crate that we built to cover the hideous air-conditioning unit on our terrace. Hand painted the same colour as our exterior walls.

Biggest Indulgence: The CJ Hendry print hanging above our bed.

Best Advice: Invest in classic pieces while your young that build the foundations of you’re future home, no matter what the trends are.

Dream Sources: More bespoke, one-off Kilim rugs and a Chanel surf board!
