Name: Aster Thomas
Location: Harlem, NY
Years lived in: Less than 1 year, renting

Aster found her studio apartment less than a year ago. The biggest selling point? “The enormous bathroom/luxurious glam room,” which comes with a clawfoot tub and high ceilings. For the design of the rest of the studio apartment, Aster drew inspiration from European studio apartments on Pinterest.

Though Aster found it a challenge to accessorize and to know “the right places to display things like pictures or books,” her friends love how the space was used and how it feels cozy.

Apartment Therapy House Tour Survey:

My Style: Contemporary Classic

Inspiration: European studio apartments on Pinterest

Favorite Element: It’s between the high ceilings and the enormous bathroom/luxurious glam room: 1. Who doesn’t love a clawfoot tub and 2. The storage in there is incredible!

Biggest Challenge: Prioritizing and accessorizing. I love accessorizing, but have never been good at it. The bigger items were easy for me, but knowing the right places to display things like pictures or books was the biggest challenge for me. Also, finding a place for all my shoes…

What Friends Say: They love how the space was used and how cozy it feels 🙂

Biggest Embarrassment: It used to be the couch until I replaced it; I’d say I’m not too crazy about my kitchen.

Proudest DIY: Wardrobe shelves and bathroom bar cart (finding one that would fit the limited space)!

Biggest Indulgence: My Casper mattress

Best Advice: Only select items you LOVE. If it doesn’t excite you, don’t get it. Especially in a studio where you have to look at everything in one sitting, you don’t want to get tired of anything you’ve selected.
