Set on the hillside, overlooking the docks and the city of Bristol, Sidonie Warren lives in a two-bedroom apartment in a Georgian terrace in the heart of Clifton (apparently the longest terrace in Europe). Sidonie is the co-owner of the contemporary stationery shop Papersmiths (just have a scroll through their beautiful Instagram feed), so it comes with no surprise that her home is filled with colorful books, contemporary artwork and luxurious textiles.

There’s certainly a vast collection of beautiful things displayed in the mid-century Ladderax shelving system, like the Storage boxes by Esme Winter, Mary sculpture by Alec Doherty, Money Saver by Atelier d’ Exercises and vintage opera champagne glasses from Bain and Murrin emporium. Smaller objects she stores in boxes and baskets. “I pinched this idea from my pal Asit. He reuses beautiful cardboard packaging for storing smaller bits and pieces.”

Other than these quirky contemporary items, her home is also dotted with other older trinkets and memories, for instance the pear wood on marble sculpture by her honorary grandfather Ray Duffy. The paintings of Barbados street scenes are by her mum Hilary Warren. “My Granny grew up in the Caribbean so it’s a place close to our hearts.”

Sidonie gets passed down a lot of furniture from her family as well — she bagged the iconic Wassily chair by Marcel Breuer, bought by her mum from Harrods in the 1980s, which proudly sits in her bedroom. The antique stool in the lounge was from her grandparents. “It’s got huge sentimental value — their house was filled with antiques and housed an extremely well-stocked dressing up box. This reminds me of many happy times. It’s engraved with the date 1897!”

Having turned this beautiful space into a wonderful home, Sidonie is now embarking on a new journey and is moving to London to set up a new Papersmiths. Even though she may not be able to bring her scintillating view of Bristol to the capital with her, with all the beautiful things that she owns, I’m sure she’ll be able to make the new place like home in no time.

My Style: Contemporary, playful, an odd mix of things we love. In the past, I’ve tried to keep it simple and minimal but I’m a bit of a collector of some things and I do like to be surrounded by inspiration. My crystals used to be scattered everywhere but now they’re mainly all housed in an old print tray that I picked up at our local reclamation.

Inspiration: The home of Atelier Bingo, Aelfie rugs, The Selby, the interiors books and magazines at our shop Papersmiths, my friend Asit’s cottage in Dorset. Monocle Guide to Cosy Homes, Greenterior and Chamber of Curiosity are particular favourite books for living inspo.

Favorite Element: The view of the city and the weather. It’s mesmerizing. You can see clouds, rain, clear skies and grey, the moon, sunshine, sunsets, sunrises, traffic, people and greenery from these windows. Who needs a TV?

Biggest Challenge: Dealing with the kitchen and bathroom and trying to add colour without painting the walls (we’re not allowed to).

What Friends Say: Nice view!

Biggest Embarrassment: You can’t look inside the cupboards!

Proudest DIY: My draft excluder. I made it from lentils and remnant fabric from Ikea.

Biggest Indulgence: The Another Country dining table, chairs and bench. I found it at a sample sale, which eased the pain a little and, as the chap selling it to me assured me as I handed over my card details, it’ll last a lifetime.

Best Advice: Take your time.

Dream Sources: I was in Australia and New Zealand in January and was completely overwhelmed with their interior stores. Highlights included Modern Times in Melbourne, Douglas and Bec in Auckland and Jardan in Australia (I could walk into their catalogue and live there). I also love British brands Another Country — I love their Two range of bedroom furniture — SCP, TwentyTwentyOne and Forest London. Not to mention Hay House in Copenhagen (and Bath) and Yellow Curated in Berlin.
