Maria studied Fashion Design in Barcelona, but has always had a good eye for mixing designs. The home she’s been renting in Valencia for three years wasn’t created overnight; instead, she slowly collected simple but special pieces to craft the minimal look this home has.

Always on the hunt for special pieces, unique furniture, cool objects and just the right shade of color, her space is an example of how you can keep furnishings simple yet still build an interesting, warm space. By keeping the decorative objects minimal, she’s allowing the beautiful architecture to shine. And her elegant way of embracing the apartment’s interesting tile choices (black), makes the kitchen and bathroom fit in, even despite the rest of the home featuring an almost all-white color palette.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style: Maybe eclectic could define it. I don’t follow any style in particular. Just pick and choose things that I like or mean something for me. I like to mix old and new stuff.

Inspiration: Love checking interior design magazines, websites…

Favorite Element: The lamp in the entrance. It was a gift and I love it.

Biggest Challenge: Filling this big house with not a lot of money.

What Friends Say: They usually love it and also say it’s too big for me or to clean it.

Proudest DIY: Painting the entire house… And varnishing some tables…

Biggest Indulgence: Summer naps on my bedroom with the big windows wide open… Love the light and the air. And having friends for dinner too.

Best Advice: Decorate step by step, using meaningful things.

Dream Sources: None. I just like pretty things but don’t have a particular brand who I love.
