Tomoko and Michael met in Austin (in fact, you might remember the Austin house tour we did of his old apartment), but moved into their Clinton Hill apartment about three and a half years ago. The couple, respectively from Japan and Texas, describe their home’s style as simple and cozy. But though it certainly has minimal vibes, there’s an appreciation of craftsmanship and an attention to detail that permeates throughout. Not surprising, considering both of their creative careers.

Tomoko is Design Lead at Work & Co, as well as a talented artist and hand letterer (and pretty great ceramicist, to boot). Michael has been a furniture designer for over a decade; his company produces custom work that mixes beautiful materials, modern lines and traditional forms.

After a brief stint in Queens, the couple found their lovely Brooklyn apartment in Clinton Hill. The small sun-filled space features many plants, and art created by the couple, their family and friends.
