Name: Courtney Gallagher and family
Location: Riverside, California
Size: 1252 square feet
Years Lived In: 3 years, owned

What started as a mild mid-century modern obsession has turned into a full-blown side hustle for mother and resident MCM expert Courtney Gallagher, She uses her successful Etsy furniture store, Not Another Mod Snob, as an excuse to rotate new vintage pieces in and out of her family's 1951 ranch-style home in Riverside, California.

Courtney's unapologetic approach to home design is one to be admired. She states that visitors, "either love it or feel it's a little wild. I'm extra about everything I do, so I could still add more color and really freak them out!"

While bold colors and striking retro patterns may not be for everyone, Courtney and her family (who may, on occasion, put up some resistance) love exercising their creativity in an unrestricted way. Constant DIYs like their ever-changing stencil wall in the dining room and the retro-TV-turned-bar keep this family's creative juices flowing.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style: A mashup of all things mid-century, kitsch, boho and Hollywood Regency, I can't stick with just one…I buy and sell vintage furniture, so everything in my house is on rotation until it sells. It keeps my style ever changing and satisfies my insatiable appetite for design! My poor husband is at the mercy of my creative impulses.

Inspiration: Some of my biggest style inspirations are the pages I follow on Instagram such as Thejungalow, Collectedhome, Sgardenerstyle, and Baddiewinkle (LOL)

Favorite Element: What's left of the original features of my home such as the original pink tile bathroom and hardwood flooring.

Biggest Challenge: I have two: getting my husband on board with my ideas and space restrictions! Our space is small and I have a chair addiction…I need more cozy reading corners for all my chairs and all the reading I don't do!

What Friends Say: "Your house is so, um, colorful." They either love it or feel it's a little wild. I'm extra about everything I do, so I could still add more color and really freak them out!

Biggest Embarrassment: All of the unfinished projects around my house! If I am close to finishing and I can envision the final product, I lose interest and call it "Good enough!" Then I'll spend a year or so explaining to everyone that sees the item, "I have a bit more work to do."

Proudest DIY: My vintage television bar. Probably the only retro piece my husband finds value in! Also, the funky coffee table my husband and I made!

Biggest Indulgence: Our West Elm Retro Rounded sofa — I purchased it pre-owned, but it was still a splurge for us. The sofa fits the space so perfectly; I will never, ever get rid of it.

Best Advice: Don't match anything! Decorate with what you love and your own unique style will emerge out of your treasures! Also if you can, reupholster old furniture, the quality is unmatched in today's world.

Dream Sources: The Rose Bowl Flea Market, Craigslist, abandoned roadside treasure and any thrift store in SoCal!
