Name: Pamelyn Rocco, her husband Chris and their daughters Moorea and Harlow
Location: Playa Vista, California
Size: 3,600 square feet
Years lived in: 3 years, owned
Pamelyn and her husband were actually familiar with this house before they ever moved in — they used to live next door! Though it wasn't exactly their style, she saw the potential and knew with a little design direction it could be amazing. Even more incredible? They renovated the entire house in just five weeks, with Pamelyn as the general contractor. Now, the spacious house is a gorgeous home for the entire stylish family.
After working in events and marketing for years, Pamelyn had her oldest daughter Moorea in 2013 and decided to focus on family. To stay creative, she hosted parties! (Like, a lot of parties.) That's how her company Bashery&Co. was started, an event and party planning business that also offers decor rentals.
In an article on Inspired by This, Pamelyn described why she was motivated to launch her business: "I knew there were companies that did 'Parties in a box', but all of the items are disposable and I was more into custom made pieces that really take your event to the next level. I looked at current trends and realized Millennials are leading a migration away from ownership to subscribing and sharing: Spotify invades our speakers, Netflix our TVs, Uber our curbs, Airbnb our entire homes, Rent the Runway our wardrobe. I thought why not stream those special moments in life that require a party! And that is how the rental idea was born. I wanted to help people to be smarter about where they are spending their money by allowing them to rent some really cool items."
Apartment Therapy Survey:
Our Style: Modern boho glam
Inspiration: It is all around me — Instagram, Pinterest, Houzz, traveling
Favorite Element: Outdoor space
Biggest Challenge: Making the playroom not look like a playroom
What Friends Say: How do you even come up with these items to put together? I would never think of that.
Biggest Embarrassment: Garage — we don't even park our cars because my husband has a drum set in there and it is my workspace as well as the home to three strollers, four bikes, and a mini car. So needless to say it is a mess!
Proudest DIY: The large mirror in my living room. I re-finished it and used a white chalk paint. I sanded it a bit and used silver leafing on the accents and it came out perfectly!!
Biggest Indulgence: Purple velour couch from Anthropologie
Best Advice: Be true to who you are. There are no rules. I mix all styles to get the look I want. Don't worry about labels. Buy what looks best.
