Edwin played it smart when it came to furnishing his small space; he kept the design minimal, the colors neutral and found a unique way to carve out a bedroom (despite there not being an actual bedroom).

He also invested in high-quality pieces of furniture and decor. The result is an airy, “feels bigger than its size” space.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style: Modern, industrial and functional with a dash of “Americana” and “Asia,” or just call it “Cosmopolitan.”

Inspiration: Modern multi-purpose urban dwellings in London, New York and Tokyo.

Favorite Element: Wall cabinet system in my living room (I call it my “Wall of Inspiration”)

Biggest Challenge: To make the apartment feel as big as my previous apartment (which was twice the size) while maintaining the same level of comfort.

What Friends Say: My interior has inspired many friends to revamp their interiors as well.

Proudest DIY: My “sleeping cabinet” at the end of the kitchen.

Biggest Indulgence: The stunning view from my roof terrace overlooking the skyline of Amsterdam.

Best Advice: Avoid IKEA and develop a taste of your own.

Dream Sources: My goal was to replace all my furniture by IKEA with genuine designer furniture, so that being said, I already made my dream come true.
