This space proves that we should never judge a home by its exterior. Built in the late 1960s by architect Uni Prii, this apartment building was described as “space age” by Spacing Toronto. However, Kyle and Sara have created a home that leans far more toward cozy vintage than futuristic. Their apartment is warm and welcoming with an airy, modern feel. With an appreciation for Scandinavian design and vintage pieces, Kyle and Sara have cultivated a space that is both fresh and personal.
Though living mid-town lacks the allure of having amenities steps away from your front door, Sara and Kyle don’t mind making the trek further down the street. Kyle explained that it allows them to get out and explore their surroundings more. The quiet neighborhood has a lot of green space (a ravine directly across the street!), something that Monty definitely appreciates.
Apartment Therapy Survey:
Our Style: We grab what we like. Scandi/modern/vintage.
Inspiration: Dwell, blogs (sfgirlbybay, Cup of Joe, Door Sixteen), Instagram (interiormilk, schoolhouse), Pinterest, Apartment Therapy.
Favorite Element: The big windows and the natural light.
Biggest Challenge: 1. The small galley kitchen. 2.The dust and dog hair seem never-ending.
What Friends Say: “You have air conditioning!?!”
Biggest Embarrassment: The kitchen cabinets. The bathroom cabinets. Probably all of the cabinets.
Proudest DIY: Turning our enclosed balcony into a garage-like storage space.
Biggest Indulgence: The custom blinds in the dining/living area.
