After living in nine different spaces over the past eight years, Terra finally feels like she has found a home in her mid-town Toronto apartment. She’s definitely had her tour of living all over the city—east to west, centrally and along the lakeshore—experiencing many of Toronto’s diverse neighborhoods. Though there is a certain appeal to living in a trendy or a more centrally located area, the reality of high rent prices and basement apartments just wasn’t cutting it for her emotionally anymore. Home to her 30 plus plants and curious Siamese cat, Pyewacket, Terra has cultivated a deep sense of comfort and peace within her new space.

Having a sense of pride in her home is change that Terra is grateful for. She is excited to have space where she can openly and comfortably host her friends and community. She even finds herself spending more time at home — from extended morning routines, spiritual rituals and working from home a couple of days a week. Terra has taken pleasure in cultivating a space full of creativity, good cosmic energy and one that is a honest reflection of her personal style and taste.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style: Feminist Witch Cottage

Inspiration: My home is inspired very much by nature and our connection to it. There is also influence leftover from when I went to design school.

Favorite Element: Closet space! After years of using Apartment Therapy small space hacks, I don’t really need to any more!

Biggest Challenge: Styling everything the way I want with a small budget

What Friends Say: I like to host a lot and people feel at home here, which is wonderful. I’m also told that my place is a great reflection of my personality.

Biggest Embarrassment: That I secretly hope that the neighbours across the windows stay there — they keep their blinds closed 24/7, which allows me to walk around with the blinds open and not worry about people seeing me in my jammies.

Proudest DIY: All of my plant pots. The majority of them were painted by yours truly!

Biggest Indulgence: So. Many. Plants.

Best Advice: You don’t have to break the bank to get the style you want. I have sourced so much of my furniture from Craigslist and bunz, and I DIY items with dollar store materials.

Dream Sources: If I had a truck and people to help me carry things up four flights of stairs, I’d love to go to flea markets and search all over bunz and Craigslist for unique vintage furniture and deals on large plants.
