Marta lives in Terrassa (a little city near Barcelona) with her two cats, Mandarino and Valentina, and her husband Jules. I met her through her Instagram account @undiagris (it means “a grey day”) but that’s just the opposite of the spirit she radiates. Marta is full of life and joy (as well as humor) and it emanates throughout her home’s decor.

Her home features beautiful old floors, high ceilings, white walls and light with a found, inherited and fun jumble of things. It all mixes together to give her home a casual feel. Marta is a collector of tote bags, a cross stitch hipster embroiderer, a fan of cat cushions, is mad about Rubik’s cubes and considers herself a full-time plant lover.

Marta is a special education teacher and Julen teaches at a college, so creating a family atmosphere is their specialty; they are continually improvising dinners, hosting intimate house music concerts, birthdays and anything they can imagine. You can check out Marta’s cross-stitch work here!

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style:
I don’t think I fit in a single style; I feel my style fits better in a mix between urban modern and vintage.

Inspiration: I worked for IKEA for some years. There I learned how simple it was to change the decoration and that “keep it simple” is a must so… Yes IKEA inspired me. I don’t think that I love Scandinavian style, but definitely I love their philosophy.

Favorite Element: Plants. They certainly bring life and color to every home.

Biggest Challenge: I have one of those rooms that everybody has at home where all the junk and auxiliary furniture live. In a couple of years, I plan on being mother, so my (actual) biggest challenge is to transform this room into a good place for my child to live.

What Friends Say: They repeat over and over how lucky I was when I found this treasure, hahaha!

Biggest Embarrassment: I don’t like at all how I have organized the laundry room, so I have to work on it.

Proudest DIY: I really love the old decorated floors and the pink sliding door of my bedroom.

Biggest Indulgence: We don’t have TV, but we wouldn’t be able to live here without a DVD player and a projector to see all our favourite movies.

Best Advice: Just work on your house until you are completely comfortable living there. Having a happy house makes me happy so this is my wish for everybody.
