A 400-Square-Foot Studio Oozing All Things Sass, Beyoncé & Llamas

Name: Emily Eaton
Location: South Minneapolis, Minnesota
Size: 400 square feet
Years lived in: 6 years, renting

Emily's south Minneapolis space may be teeny, but it packs a one-of-a-kind punch, the likes of which you may have never seen. All small space dwellers are faced with the reality of their situation — some conquer and others fail. Throughout Emily's six years in this space she has clearly conquered the common challenges by mastering the art of storage, organization, and the daily task of bed making. And she keeps things fun and fresh by rearranging her furniture and large art collection regularly.

No stranger to entertaining, Emily hosts friends often in her small space. With an easily accessible supply of floor pillows and her bed nearby, there is never a shortage of seating. Though that one time she hosted a beer pong tournament might have been a mistake...you live and learn.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

Style: Palm Springs — like a chic mid-century modern desert moment.

Inspiration: I take a lot of what is trending for fashion and transform that into home décor. Currently into furry/fuzzy pillows, pom poms and monochromatic looks.

Favorite Element: The natural light — it is so rare for studios to have so many windows. It's not direct sunlight so it doesn't heat up the place too much but it's a haven for my plant babies.

Biggest Challenge: Storage — as anyone in a tiny living situation experiences. It has taught me to buy only what you need and to donate something from my place if I do buy something new.

What Friends Say: "CHIIIICCCCCCCC."

Biggest Embarrassment: I once hosted a beer pong tournament in my studio. Yes, in my studio. On the wood floors. My floors were sticky with cheap beer for months. That was many moons ago.

Proudest DIY: My jungle.

Biggest Indulgence: Hiring a cleaning service. Even though I am clean and organized there is nothing quite like professionally cleaned bathroom floors.

Best Advice: Make your bed every day if you live in a small space — it helps it feel more together.
