It’s not surprising to learn that Mylène works as a visual merchandiser for a decor boutique; her apartment reflects someone who’s both interested in and really talented at design and home decor. Lots of stylish second-hand furniture and a variety of small elements and objects animate a space where a soft color palette mixes well with natural wood tones.
Mylène grew up in France, and two objects from her past have prominent spots in her Montreal apartment to remind her of home; a little globe and a large-format black-and-white photograph representing the farmland of her grandparents. They’ll come with her wherever she roams – she says, “These are two things that I can bring anywhere thanks to their size”.

Biggest Embarrassment: The bathroom would need to be renovated, but I’m moving soon to a bigger place and to live with my boyfriend so there are plenty of new challenges to come!
Proudest DIY: The macrame pieces
Biggest Indulgence: In terms of time spent, the kitchen wall using DIY tape. Also repainting my whole apartment in white.
Best Advice: Having a beautiful interior is not about money. Two or three vintage pieces or DIY elements with with beautiful pieces of furniture, for example, can truly create a nice atmosphere. For me, having plants and flowers in an apartment is essential.
