Jade, an interior stylist and founder of Style + Space, lives in this inner city apartment with her husband and two young daughters. While the apartment only has two bedrooms, the living space has a great layout, allowing a lovely flow through the apartment. Windows on three sides of the apartment allow their place to get great natural light. And being a home to two young girls also means the apartment is decorated with hardworking items, bought at bargain prices or second-hand.

In her eclectic style, Jade has thoughtfully and purposefully used the available space in the apartment. My favorite element of the space is the gallery wall that Jade has created in the living space. It is a wonderful collection of thrifted items, her own photographs, and drawings by her two daughters.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style: I make jokes about this with my husband…it’s boho, jungalow, a bit of vintage, and pretty eclectic.

Inspiration: Vogue Living style is my favourite, where modern and classic/vintage meet and create magic. I don’t quite have the elegance of that down pat. I need higher ceilings and an older apartment.

Favorite Element: Quite proud of my growing plant collection, and how alive they all seem to be staying.

Biggest Challenge: Kid clutter!!! School bags, readers, drawings, forms, homework, toys. Drives. Me. Crazy.

What Friends Say: People often say they feel welcome and like our little space is warm, inviting and creative.

Biggest Embarrassment: Clutter. I want, and advocate more than anything, to have a purposeful space, where everything has its place. But I feel so often overtaken by life and its activities that I can never get on top of it.

Proudest DIY: I’m not much of a DIY person to be honest, but I am really proud of some of my film photography and artwork.

Biggest Indulgence: Probably my copper cow-hide cushions from Issie Mae. I still feel like we’ve not splurged on any of the amazing furniture I source for clients. I love the challenge of creating style with pre-loved pieces and low budget.

Best Advice: It really takes time to create the best interiors. Collect things you really love, and don’t just follow trends.

Dream Sources: I love…West Elm, Living Edge, Coco Republic, Antique Centres, with some large modern art from TW Art or a photographer. A beautiful mix of vintage/antique style, and modern.
