I met Lisette at a magazine opening party and she immediately caught my attention because she seemed like a well-traveled person with plenty of stories to tell. Born in Dutch Antilles and raised in Madrid, she hasn’t stopped traveling and exploring since. Twelve years ago she landed in Barcelona after living in Madrid, Hong Kong and Amsterdam, attracted by the cosmopolitan character of the city and the sea.
Lisette has worked as a product manager for several fashion magazines and she studied fashion design in Madrid, which led her to live and work in Hong Kong for four (marvelous, she emphasizes) years in the fashion industry. She has always liked old things for their beauty and history, and in Hong Kong she often visited old markets (where several pieces in her home came from).
Lisette is a handy person, and many things she has at home have been restored or are DIY projects. She combines antique furniture, Nordic style and modern pieces in an eclectic mix full of personality. However, she tells me, her house is always constantly reborn, you know “to renew or to die.”
Lisette is wondering already about her next destination, although still uncertain, she stated to me, “it will smell of salt.” Speaking of travel, those wishing to see this amazing space in person can rejoice; Lisette also occasionally rents the space out on Airbnb.
