“After ten years of living in my condo, I was ready for a fresh start,” writes fashion and beauty blogger Sydne Summer. “My renovation started because I needed to replace my hardwood floors after some bad storms. What began as a small project turned into a three-month complete renovation. Even though it was beyond exhausting, it was totally worth it! I love waking up with natural sunlight in an all-white space.”

“The open concept space now allows me do all my shoots at home (no more renting studio spaces!) and it’s perfect for entertaining. When I’m not working or having friends over, I’m cuddling up with my rescue pup, Bunny Bell, on the soft velvet furniture with faux fur accents. Even though everything is all white, I feel cozy and relaxed in the serene space.”

My Style: My personal style is feminine and polished. I wanted my home to be an extension of my blog and Instagram. So I worked with my designer, Jean Luxe, to create a soft modern vibe.

Inspiration: The inspiration for my condo was mixed metallics with marble and blush accents. We created it around this photo that includes wine.

Favorite Element: My favorite piece is my vanity table. It was a present from my late grandparents and I wanted to incorporate it into my new home. I had it refinished in a glossy white, added new knobs and reupholstered the seat to make it work.

Biggest Challenge: The biggest challenge was making the space look bigger. Being a fashion and lifestyle blogger, I constantly have product coming in and out of my home. So I wanted to find places to hide things. I did this through custom closets and cabinetry. Having all white made the space look bigger. Another solution was keeping the mirrored walls that previously existed in my condo. My designer, Jean Luxe, came up with the genius solution to frame the mirrors so they looked more modern and fresh. We chatted about more solutions in our Q&A video.

Proudest DIY: My proudest DIY is my artwork. I painted the oil painting above my couch and my photographer, Michelle Kyle, and I created the lemon photograph that hangs in my kitchen. I’ve gotten so many compliments about the piece that we’re thinking of doing a limited edition series!

Biggest Indulgence: My biggest indulgence was my custom chandelier. I splurged on it when I first moved in the condo. After ten years, it started to tarnish so I had it cleaned and rethreaded and now it looks just like it did when I first brought it home!

Best Advice: Always double your time expectations. I thought I would be done with the renovation and decorating in a month and half. It took over three months. I learned it’s better to be patient and wait for what you love instead of trying to rush things.
