Name: Heather & Eric, and kids Ellie & Jane
Location:
Fairfield; Victoria, B.C.
Size: 1,000 square feet
Years lived in: 1 year; Owned

I actually came across Heather and Eric’s beautiful home on Airbnb! We were looking for a little getaway for the weekend, and I couldn’t believe how charming their space was. Eric owns a tree planting company, which allows for a large amount of travel during the year. Heather and the kids join him and enjoy scouring flea markets and thrift stores for treasures to use in their home and to sell in Heather’s Etsy store, The Weekend Shop.

The family travels all over British Columbia during the spring and summer, and offer their house up to other travelers. During the winter they become snowbirds, traveling somewhere warm — this year they’re in Thailand! We absolutely enjoyed our time in this charming, bright little home, and I highly recommend it to anyone who might be in the Victoria area.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

Our Style: Our style is an eclectic mix of vintage hand-me-downs, flea market finds, handmade items and a little bit of IKEA.

Inspiration: Travel, friends and, of course, Apartment Therapy!

Favorite Element: I absolutely love my girls’ room. It’s bright, cheery and I love all the different floral prints mixed together.

Biggest Challenge: Two young kids and a dog!

What Friends Say: “Where did you get that?” followed by “you always have the best luck at flea markets!” I also get a lot of, “my parent used that have this…”

Biggest Embarrassment: The kitchen! Those countertops and the window that is 2 inches lower than the counter! Super weird.

Proudest DIY: Our Ace Hotel inspired plumbing pipe shelves in the bedroom.

Biggest Indulgence: Fresh flowers!

Best Advice: Scrounge! I found almost all of our furniture in my parents’ basement, on the side of the street or on Craigslist. There is a lot of good stuff out there, you just have to look!

Dream Sources: I would love to do a road trip to California with a truck and trailer and go to all the big flea markets!

Resources of Note:

• Most items were thrifted or found in flea markets!
