Originally from Uruguay, famed photographer Ceci Gervaso has called Barcelona home for several years. She misses her home town but this beautiful house she’s been renting for almost four years has a special place in her heart.

Gorgeous antique floor tiles and vintage furnishings are the perfect mix for this space. Ceci loves mixing styles, and she finds old furniture and other treasures at flea markets around the world. She’s also incorporated many lovely items from her grandmother. And the kitchen filled with a lively array of colorful glasses, tableware and more.

It’s a very open space; all the rooms flow into one another easily, and there’s really only one big antique door on the master bedroom for privacy. The openness of the house means that light also flows freely; charming windows add a big dose of architectural character to the home.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

Our Style: I think my style is kind of “a bit of everything,” but I always end up somehow decorating with a ’60s and ’70s style. I love to mix decades, styles…a bit eclectic is maybe the best way to define it.

Inspiration: I’m inspired by old movies, photography, or the traveling I do around the world. I also love to remember the travels to the flea markets in Uruguay with my mom when I was little. I think she gave me a passion for old and special objects.

Favorite Element: My old tableware… Absolutely love it. Also an old side table from the ’20s I have in the living room.

Biggest Challenge: I never have a big challenge with decor. Decorating for me is something intuitive, something you do with your instincts. For me decorating is like cooking with just the things you find in the fridge. I love to find things on the streets, in the markets…and sometimes I think things find me. So I just let it flow.

What Friends Say: They love it and want me to decorate their homes. Sometimes I help them.

Biggest Embarrassment: I’m not embarrassed, but for me it’s annoying not having everything in the right place and or not being super organized. I have too many things, so if I didn’t stay tidy the house would be a disaster!

Proudest DIY: Sometimes I recover the old furnishings I’ve found.

Biggest Indulgence: That every single person who walks through the home feels like this is home. I love when they ask me about the objects, the history of them…and I love to share them.

Best Advice: Pay attention to every little thing around you. You never know where you could find the perfect piece.

Dream Sources: Don’t have any. I’m not much of a brand person.
