Young professional, Victoria Kirchhoff, carves out her own piece of Texas in a downtown Saint Paul apartment. Although an unlikely spot for a Southern girl, her cozy rustic design successfully brings her roots to the Midwest.

When work brought young executive, Victoria Kirchhoff, to the Twin Cities, she immediately embraced the historical architecture and gorgeous Mississippi River views that the Midwestern cities had to offer. But, something was still missing. That sense of Southern charm and Texan spirit. So, Victoria decided to express her roots through the decor of her apartment, making it a true home away from home. I have to say, this tour’s a bit more personal as it’s the apartment of my little sister. And as a big sister looking upon her success through the lens of my camera, I’m proud to showcase such a beautiful first home—sibling or not!

Her use of rich texture and pattern brings back memories of fall on Texas ranches. Accents of cotton and cowhide refined with metallic accents and a soft color palette bring elegance to a rustic aesthetic. Billowy pillows paired with dark leather and lovely natural light instantly give this downtown apartment a tranquil country feel. Over the years, I’ve always admired Victoria’s knack for executing her own unique vision and ability to express her personal style, however different it has been from my own. This tour exemplifies what hard work and vision can create even if you are just getting started. All that’s missing now is my glass of sweet tea!

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style: Rustic and Modern

Inspiration: Texas. And, Olivia Pope.

Favorite Element: Living in the heart of downtown. I have a grocery store below me, and great downtown views.

Biggest Challenge: Trying to stick with the same design concept. I’m all over the place!

What Friends Say: My apartment is so homey and cute!

Biggest Embarrassment: My nightstand was damaged in shipment, and is missing a large piece of glass at the top. Thank goodness for decorative books!

Proudest DIY: I use mason jars as storage for my makeup brushes.

Biggest Indulgence: Coffee mugs! My collection’s a little absurd.

Best Advice: Spend less on décor, this way you will always feel comfortable switching it out with something different.

Dream Sources: Joss and Main, West Elm, anything by Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper.
