This $70 IKEA Nightstand is What Your Bedroom is Missing
A friend of mine who is in the process of redecorating her bedroom recently sent me a screenshot of the nightstand above, and I immediately fell in love. Right away, I wanted to know whether the leather pull situation was a DIY and more importantly—where’s the table from, and what’s the price? I was sure the simple Scandi piece would cost a fortune. So when she told me the nightstand is actually the BJÖRKSNÄS from IKEA, retails for just $69.99, and comes with the leather pull, I was honestly a little shook.
This is not to say that IKEA doesn’t have well-designed pieces on the regular. Between all of their collaborations and own robust in house team, there’s no shortage of iconic IKEA items. But in addition to being super stylish in their own right, these nightstands are an excellent budget friendly alternative to the Kura Nightstands from The Citizenry, which are on my wish list and are so popular that there’s actually a waitlist for them right now. No, the BJÖRKSNÄS doesn’t have the same handwoven cane detailing the Kura has. But if you’ve been swooning over a style like this for quite some time and can’t quite swing the $600 per table price point, you may want to go ahead and snag this IKEA version now.
Given all of the HEMNES nightstand IKEA hacks we’ve seen over the years, we’re excited to stay tuned and see what DIY enthusiasts will do to take this new piece to the next level. It would look gorgeous adorned with a stenciled pattern, a bit of spray paint, or maybe even some removable wallpaper wrapped around the table top. But, there’s something to be said for a simple, neutral piece that will stand the test of time style-wise, and this is surely one of those.
