If you work at a computer all day, you may be familiar with the lower back, neck, and shoulder pain that can result from sitting for hours on end. It’s so important to take breaks and get some movement in, but it can also be helpful to spend a few hours standing at your desk rather than sitting. To help with that, IKEA dropped a new laptop stand called the DUBBLA that turns any work surface into a standing desk in just a few seconds.

What Is the IKEA DUBBLA?

The DUBBLA is an adjustable work table that can be raised or lowered with a single lever. Place it on your desk and set it to your ideal height with the smooth-moving, expandable ironing-board-style legs that are gas-spring-powered. And when you’re done with work for the day, the DUBBLA can fold nearly flat, which makes it slim enough to store between your desk and the wall.

The legs also have rubberized feet so the DUBBLA won’t scratch your desktop, and the stand comes in a brand-new bright orange color (as well as white). Another bonus of the laptop stand? It doesn’t necessarily have to be used for work at all — instead, you can use it for leisure. I could envision it being used as a breakfast-in-bed tray or even for coloring on the couch or bed.

What IKEA Shoppers Are Saying

“I love this!” one IKEA reviewer wrote about the DUBBLA. “I hemmed and hawed over it for a while — but wowzers! It’s awesome! It’s sturdy and not too hard to move up and down. It’s not light, but it just means I feel safe leaning on it while working.”

And someone else wrote, “A great idea for converting an existing desk into a height-adjustable standing work station! I use this desk for typing, but also for crafting and filing. The system is similar to an ironing board, but with a gas pressure spring! Smoooooooooth!!!”

If you can’t find this laptop stand at your local IKEA, or if it sells out, you can find a similar laptop stand on Amazon that’s slightly wider than IKEA’s version (which could make it a great alternative for those who use a mouse rather than the laptop trackpad). It also comes with a cord management hole to keep chargers in check.

Save your back, shoulders, and neck with this laptop stand — you’ll be kicking yourself for not investing in the DUBBLA sooner.
