I’m pretty sure I spend more time scrolling the new products page on IKEA each week than most people — maybe even more than the brand’s own staff. There’s always something fun to discover (quirky lamps, funky pillows, even some gorgeous glassware), but stylish new IKEA furniture releases are extra exciting. So I was thrilled when I spotted a new mid-century modern piece on the site this week.

Introducing: FÖRSÄLJARE, a gorgeous new sideboard from IKEA. This piece is the latest installment of several stylish new furniture collections from the Swedish brand, which have been rolling out in recent months. For now, there’s only one FÖRSÄLJARE; but there’s a whole lot to love about it.

What Is the FÖRSÄLJARE?

Although it’s listed as a sideboard, this piece is quite versatile. At just 55” long and about 17” deep, it’s a great choice for smaller spaces. Perfect for a tiny dining area, or as a TV stand in a narrow living room, the FÖRSÄLJARE is a storage superhero that packs a seriously stylish punch.

It definitely has a mid-century vibe, but I could also see the FÖRSÄLJARE looking right at home in any contemporary, modern, or eclectic space. The frame features a rich walnut finish, while the sliding doors on the front are painted a nice warm beige. Behind the doors are shelves and one small drawer on the right-hand side — perfect for keeping items like silverware, barware, or stationery easily accessible.

What Reviewers Are Saying

Although this piece hasn’t been available in the U.S. for very long, customers from other countries have been enjoying their FÖRSÄLJARE sideboards for months. Shoppers from South Korea to Portugal all seem to agree that the FÖRSÄLJARE’s best qualities are its chic design and sturdy build: “It’s incredibly beautiful and sturdy,” reads one review, “[and] it fits perfectly in our home.” And while it’s priced at just $249, customers say FÖRSÄLJARE looks a lot more expensive. “The wood grain texture is luxurious and lovely,” says another review. “I also like the color of the doors, which is more of a greige than white.”

The one drawback? Multiple reviews do mention issues with assembly. A few complain about complicated instructions or mismatched pieces, while others say it simply took far too long to put together. But such is the case with many larger IKEA pieces — especially those with several moving parts like this one. As long as you’re patient and determined, I think you’ll be just fine. “It took a little while to put it together, but it was worth it,” writes one happy customer. All in all, for $249, FÖRSÄLJARE is a fantastic and versatile piece perfect for any mid-century-modern-lover on a budget. Here’s hoping for more fabulous new releases to come from our favorite Swedish furniture brand!
