You know when people ask you what you like to do for fun? My response is always, “I like to stroll around IKEA and see the latest and greatest.” (And, of course, enjoy some meatballs too). Usually there’s something that piques my interest, but never have I been as gobsmacked as I was when I spotted the KJUGE storage pouf out of the corner of my eye. Sitting undisturbed — demure, if you will — on a shelf was this bright, eye-catching deep green pouf with built-in storage. And to make things even better, it was priced at $13. I couldn’t believe it.

Anyone who lives in a small space or apartment can attest that smart storage solutions are always top of mind. Without a second thought, my brain was immediately running leaps and bounds, thinking about all the ways I could use it, all the things I could store inside it, and whether I should just buy one or sell IKEA out completely. All I knew was it was definitely coming home with me.

What Is the IKEA KJUGE Pouf with Storage?

The IKEA KJUGE is anything you want it to be. It can act as a comfy place to rest your feet, an easy design-forward storage solution, or even extra seating when guests come around — it really is a three-in-one find. The pouf was first released in 2025 with a limited color range, which has now expanded to include two new shades: a deep green (a limited-edition color) and a light neutral gray-beige (perfect for those looking for a more understated shade that can blend into almost any room).

What’s unique about this pouf is its hexagonal design. I will caution that it is smaller than a traditional pouf or ottoman — it measures 15 inches in diameter and 13 inches in height, but boy is it surprisingly mighty. I’m able to fit two large blankets inside of mine. And if you avoid IKEA because you struggle with building flat-packs, I promise this one will be a breeze, and you won’t even need to look at the assembly instructions. It comes in a small, compact box with only three pieces: the base, the frame, and the lid – which is made from sturdy plywood with stoppers so the lid never slips off.

How I Used My IKEA KJUGE Pouf

The choice between the four colorways provides more than enough options for finding a style that fits your home. But for myself, I added a new fabric on top of the neutral dark gray pouf I bought with a yard of fabric and a staple gun. If I haven’t convinced you already on the power of the IKEA KJUGE, I don’t know what else will.

I keep mine permanently assembled because I store blankets inside of it, but it can be assembled and disassembled almost instantly, so it’s the perfect find for folks who need extra seating for guests but don’t have the room to keep that seating out all of the time. Even in my small apartment, it now lets me host properly, and my friends will no longer have to sit on the floor or my bed when the two-seater couch is taken. And while I use mine in my living room, you could use it anywhere — in a nursery or playroom to store children’s toys, as a footstool to relax while watching TV, in a gym space to put tension bands and free weights, or you could have a few flat-packed at all times so that you always have extra seating on hand.
