With warmer temperatures and longer days well underway, you may be itching to usher in a full spring refresh of your home — and that starts with ditching heavy winter bedding. The team at IKEA is thinking just the same thing, as they’ve launched a new collection of duvet covers that feel just right for a bedroom makeover. The best part? They’re so trendy without leaning into traditional archetypes.

Traditionally, plaid may be a print you gravitate toward when fall rolls around, but IKEA is proving that plaid deserves a spotlight this season, too. The home store just rolled out several new bedding sets, all of which feature plaids for the upcoming season. And this might actually be groundbreaking for spring (sorry, florals).

IKEA’s Best New Plaid Bedding for Spring

IKEA’s new HÖSTGENTIANA duvet and pillowcase is the plaid bedding set that first caught our eye. It features a bright, cheery plaid print similar to Madras plaid, with light blues, greens, yellows, and pinks. It’s made from a soft cotton-rayon blend and is available in three sizes: twin, queen/full, and king. Plus, as one reviewer wrote, this print would be so fun to purposefully clash with others in your bedroom.

“Looks great in our bedroom,” one IKEA reviewer wrote. “Not too feminine for my husband, and I love plaid … Well-made and washed up nicely. Pairs well with our blue and white striped IKEA duvet we bought last year.”

The new TORNTUSS set is perfect for those who love darker, moodier colors that transition from one season to the next. The flannel duvet and pillowcase set features a navy plaid on a white background that works just as well in winter as it does in spring and summer. Plus, the flannel finish of the cotton fabric keeps this set cozy for those chilly spring nights.

“This is the most comfortable duvet I’ve had,” one shopper wrote. “Love this print, too! Simple, stylish, Nordic, and affordable! The color is beautiful and stands out against all my walnut furniture. It’s truly a find! Love, love, love!”

And the BLÅSENAP duvet set from IKEA will make you think of summer camp, thanks to its vintage-inspired blue, cream, and rust-colored stripes. This set is also made with flannel, giving it an extra-soft touch that can be just enough warmth for spring and summer, or layered with other blankets for extra coziness throughout the rest of winter. The colorway is seasonless, and you’ll love it just as much in the spring as you will in the fall.

Florals are fun, but plaid can give your bedroom that unexpected pop that will make your spring season a bit more interesting. Happy refreshing!
