Light Up Your Life With IKEA’s New Collection With Sabine Marcelis

IKEA has announced a new collaboration that’s sure to light up your life. The Swedish retailer will be partnering with Dutch lighting designer Sabine Marcelis to bring a range of lighting solutions, glasses, bowls, mirrors, and more, with the aim of embracing the potential of direct and indirect light at home… perfect for the darker winter months!

“With this curious collection we want to explore how light interacts with materials, texture, and color and we wish to emphasize how beautiful home furnishings can have a positive effect on everyday life,” says Henrik Most, Product Design Leader at IKEA of Sweden AB. “The products will be a fantastic addition to the IKEA range as they showcase Sabine Marcelis’ unique design language.”

The collection will mark the second collaboration between IKEA and Marcelis, following her statement light fixture in the IKEA Art Event 2021.

While most of the products will be a limited offer, some of the lighting pieces are intended to be long-term additions to the IKEA range. The upcoming collection will feature statement pieces, which will enable people to express their personality and design aesthetics to create sensorial, emotional experiences in the home. It is hoped that the collection will on emphasizes the beauty of light and its positive impact on people’s emotional wellbeing, making the pieces a calming and relaxing choice for any style or aesthetic.

“Lighting, and design objects with integrated light, are more than functional home furnishing products. Light has an impact on how we feel, it creates ambience and atmosphere. Direct light and indirect light can create unexpected effects harmonizing or amplifying our surroundings”, says Sabine Marcelis in a press release announcing the new collection. “I wanted to explore how light can be turned into something that is not just purely functional. Light has the ability to transform the look, feel, and atmosphere of the home for the better.”

While there are no sneak peeks of items available, the range is sure to include Marcelis’ signature style, which aims to create magical experiences through engaging designs. The Sabine Marcelis collection is set to be released in October 2022.
