Many things are splurge-worthy, but personally, I don’t consider bath towels to be one of them. After all, I’m just using them to dry off! However, as I’m getting older, I’m starting to see the value of having softer, more durable towels — and possibly also prettier ones. And when it comes to balancing budget with aesthetics and durability, there’s no better place to look than IKEA.

Melissa Polhamus, Apartment Therapy’s creative director, discovered these adorable striped bath towels earlier this month, which she described as, “So cute!” — and a really good dupe of Brooklyn-based textile brand Dusen Dusen’s House Stripe bath towels. The SLÅNHÖSTMAL bath towel is 100% cotton and medium-thick, and according to IKEA, “absorbent and a perfect choice for an easy refresh.” It comes in three striped patterns: Black and white, pink and orange with a yellow border, and dark and light blue with a bright green border. Best of all, it’s only $6.99.

Even better, these clock in at over $50 cheaper than the Dusen Dusen ones. While you’re probably paying for some extra absorbency with Dusen Dusen, the brand’s big draw is its patterns — and if that’s what you’re looking for, the IKEA option is still great quality with the same aesthetic. The stripes are slightly thicker, but overall, they’re perfect to add a pop of color and give a little lift to your bathroom.

IKEA customers agree — the towel has 24 five-star reviews out of 29 at the time of publication, with one reviewer saying, “Love the colors, also it’s very soft and dries pretty well.” Another says, “Lovely soft towels. Very pleased with [the] price and quality.”

Winter is on its way, so it might be time to get these into the bathroom so you can have some color indoors — and then grab them for the beach next summer!
