Teresa Golpe and her husband have owned this home for three years: I am a Spanish interior designer. I moved to Portugal three years ago to be the creative director of a big project and immediately fell in love with this country and its people.

I am launching an online shop, Devagar Living, where I sell beautifully handcrafted homewares based in the old Portuguese pattern and crafts, but with a more modern eye. My husband is a financier and has his own company of advisory for families.

My home is me! I designed it, chose every piece of it, and also my company produced most of the pieces.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or fewer: Bright, warm, spacious, chic, and sophisticated.

What is your favorite room and why? The kitchen is my favorite room. I love to cook and even though we have a more formal dining room, we never use it. We love to entertain at the kitchen table and open the French doors to the terrace. Weather in Lisbon usually allows you to have them wide open with the sunset light coming through.

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? I am constantly adding new samples of the products I am launching. My house is always full of pieces in different stages of producing. The Comporta and the Seteais are two of my favorite pieces. I am working right now in hand-blown glass.

Any advice for creating a home you love? Your home is yours and for you to enjoy. Only keep things that you love. Empty spaces are usually a luxury — let your furniture breathe. Clean up frequently; you don’t need so many things!
