Jane Says a Fond-a Farewell to Her Beverly Hills Estate
Jane Fonda, workout-lover, environmentalist, star of Netflix’s Grace and Frankie, and all around octogenarian extraordinaire, has bid a fond-a farewell to her Beverly Hills estate. After calling it quits with long-time partner, record producer Richard Perry in 2017, the couple has sold the home they once shared together for $8.535 million — a much smaller sum than the original $12.995 million asking price.
The over 7,000 square foot 1961 contemporary style home is located in the exclusive Trousdale Estates neighborhood of Beverly Hills. Known for homes built by storied architects, like Wallace Neff, A. Quincy Jones, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Paul Williams, Trousdale Estates has been home to such celebrities as Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Jennifer Aniston, and Vera Wang over the years.
Fonda’s home boats glass, glass, and well, more glass, all of which helps make the house open, airy, and bright. In fact, a central, glass-walled elevator greets visitors in the entry foyer, and allows a sightline through to the home’s lower level, dining room, and kitchen all at once. Given Fonda’s status as a staunch and active environmentalist, it’s not surprising her home also features eco-conscious accents, like bamboo and cork flooring, solar panels, and UV-coated double-glazed thermal glass windows.
On the home’s upper level is a large, chef’s kitchen and connecting den. The kitchen features a wall of sliding glass doors that open onto the home’s spacious deck with outdoor dining area and serene canyon views. The home’s lower level is an entertainer’s dream. It boasts recording/listening lounge (decked out in Golden Girl-chic bamboo furniture!), a media room with a walk-in wet bar, and not to mention a gym that opens up onto to the outdoor entertaining area and pool deck. Out back, the home’s new buyer will find a solar-heated pool and multiple built-in fireplaces which are the perfect gathering spot for an evening spent watching the sun set.
In addition to its public spaces, the home includes four bedrooms and seven and a half bathrooms. Fonda and Perry originally purchased the home in 2012 for $7.29 million.
Fonda won’t be moving far; the Academy Award and Emmy-winning actress will take up residence in the 5,700 square foot, three-story, elevator-equipped townhouse she owns in L.A.’s Century City neighborhood.
