From donning a green fur in “The Grinch” to becoming the Riddler in “Batman Forever” to dancing in a zoot suit in “The Mask,” comedic actor Jim Carrey is all about change. And now the “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective” actor is about to make another one: He’s putting his two-acre estate in Los Angeles’ Brentwood neighborhood up for sale.

Packed with decorative and artistic flourishes expected from an actor whose eccentric nature made him an instant star (and one of the highest-paid funnymen), his home is commanding both a price tag of $28.9 million and our attention.

In a statement to The Wall Street Journal, Carrey said the ranch-style home he purchased in 1994 had been “a place of enchantment and inspiration.” The home is lauded as a “one-of-a-kind magical sanctuary,” with five bedrooms and six bathrooms, plus three more powder rooms throughout an expanse of 12,700-square-feet of living space. Carrey is selling the property because he no longer spends as much time there: “I want someone else to enjoy it like I have,” he said, referencing David Bowie’s song, “Ch-ch-ch-changes!”

With polished brick and hardwood floors, pitched and beamed ceilings, and numerous fireplaces, the airy interior is impactful, to say the least.

The chef’s kitchen boasts several ranges, an indoor barbecue, a huge marble island, cream-colored cabinetry, and stainless steel appliances. Need ingredient inspiration? There’s a backyard vegetable garden to provide fresh organic produce, while just off of the kitchen is an octagonal breakfast room with cool stone floors and grand windows looking out over the yard. For more formal meals, the dining room — capped by ridge-line skylights for ample natural light — has a double fireplace, so no one at the table is left cold.

Other aspects of the house are equally impressive. It boasts a huge family room, several large guest rooms, a primary suite with a covered balcony, a fireplace, and a breathtaking bathroom complete with a giant copper fireplace. Ample office space, a large gym, and an Art Deco-style movie theater with mohair lounge chairs, Beidermeier-style snack area, and a decadent black marble and mirror bathroom grace this space, too.

The excitement doesn’t end when you walk out the door. The meandering grounds include expanses of patios, mature specimen trees, a north-south tennis court, gazebo, a waterfall pouring into a rock-lined swimming pool and spa, a pool house with bar and fireplace, and both an infrared sauna and steam room. There’s also an outdoor meditation pavilion secreted away — for those times you just need to kick back and relax.
