Joanna Gaines’ ‘Fixer Upper’ Sneak Peek Reveals She’s Leaning into This Trendy Pattern

When patterns have their moment in the sun — like how trendy gingham became the print of the summer — it’s normal to expect them to quietly fade away. But leave it to Joanna Gaines to prove a trend is actually here to stay; the Vichy check has staying power this season. In the Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House trailer (premiering on December 9, 2025), two gingham-printed sofas are the main fixtures in what fans saw within Jo’s latest living room reno. 

The Colorado home is a 1960s mid-century (meets rustic!) house that features a gorgeous stone fireplace, vaulted ceilings, numerous windows, and a picturesque stream in the backyard. It’s the perfect blank slate for the Gaines family to work their magic — including Chip and Joanna’s daughter, Ella, who was tasked with designing a cottage on the property.

The trailer gives us quick glimpses into the in-process makeover, which includes a few truly chic gingham sofas, vintage-style lithograph prints, warm wood accents, copper and brass decor , and touches of rusty orange that scream cozy fall vibes. I can already tell that Joanna really outdid herself, despite being outside of her central Texas element.

Although the house leans more into woodsy, lodge-style aesthetics, the gingham sofas add a touch of whimsy and playfulness that brings more warmth to the space. Most of the home is clad in wood, so the pop of pattern (coupled with orange throw pillows and a floral rug) sparks visual interest while still leaning into the feeling of comfort. 

“Colorado has come to be a special place for our family,” Joanna said in a statement shared with Warner Bros. Discovery. “And somewhere in between ski trips and spring breaks over the last decade, a dream took root to one day carve out a place of our own. While taking Fixer Upper out of state meant we were in for a steep learning curve, our hope is that this home would far outlast us, and we can’t wait to share it with you.”
