Joanna Gaines Is Giving Away $50,000 To Celebrate Magnolia’s Anniversary
In 2003, Joanna Gaines pursued her dream of opening a little shop called Magnolia. Now that she’s more than made it, she’s looking to help someone else achieve their dream —starting with a $50,000 check.
The host and bestselling author recently announced in an Instagram post that, in celebration of Magnolia’s 18th anniversary on Oct. 15, she’ll be giving away $50,000 to one lucky fan.
“I woke up this morning with butterflies in my stomach. A feeling that returns to me every October 15th — the day we opened Magnolia 18 years ago,” said Gaines, recalling her humble beginning along with a #ThrowbackThursday photo of herself and husband Chip in their original Waco, Texas store.
“I can still hear the sound of the front door of that little shop opening, and the deep assurance that, despite how scared I was, I would never look back. Chip had pushed me to take a chance on something I believed in — so win or lose, I already knew I’d never be the same.”
Suffice to say, the couple’s gamble had paid off. They’ve not only expanded their store into several more locations, but they’ve also built a flourishing homeware and media empire.
Gaines added: “I’ve said this before, but I truly believe that dreams beget dreams. And that sometimes all you need is someone to believe in yours, or a little momentum to keep you moving in the right direction.”
And with that, she declared her offer to fund someone’s business idea. Although applications closed the same day as the announcement, it’s exciting that someone is going to have a nice head start.
