The Designer Behind Some of the World’s Coolest Interiors Just Made H&M Home Even Cooler

If you’re as big of a design geek as I am, you probably remember where you were when news first broke that H&M Home had tapped celebrity designer Kelly Wearstler to create an exclusive interiors line. The announcement coincided with Salone back in April, and many people (myself included!) have been waiting patiently for the official launch, which is finally here.

Campaign images of the line — and little breadcrumbs about pricing and item availability — have been released here and there throughout the spring and summer. But today, shoppers can finally bring home Wearstler’s signature edgy-meets-elevated, California-cool style for a song. Will the line sell out within hours or days? Probably! Are pieces available in stores or just on the web? I’m hearing the entire collection will be available online, while the furniture and decor will also be sold in select stores. A 29-item-strong assortment, the Kelly Wearstler H&M Home Collection runs the gamut from modular furniture and tabletop decor to lighting and mirrors. There’s even a luxe blanket in the mix, as well as some novelty items like clothing hangers and a set of dominoes. The pieces are meant to evoke Wearstler’s bold aesthetic and focus on materiality; her work is known for unique architectural forms and unexpected pairings, and this collection doesn’t disappoint on either front. What’s different is the competitive price points — Wearstler’s other collaborations are not with mass retailers but high-end, bespoke home brands. 

“The opportunity to challenge both my own skills and those of my studio, while creating something artisanal yet accessible, was incredibly exciting,” Wearstler said in a press release about the collection. We began by questioning how objects can shape a space — creating sculptural pieces that feel expressive, tactile, and designed to endure.”

Standouts in the range include the modular SOLUNA Lounge Chair, which can be configured to create a sprawling, cloud-like sofa when multiple pieces are grouped together. Similarly, several ORTRA Sofa Tables can be arranged end to end to create a long, and sinuous coffee table setup. The lighting is particularly stunning, too. Three different table lamps, each available in two sizes, are included in the range, each with a striking silhouette and interesting details — a caged frame, a ceramic base. The collection offers something for virtually every room of the home, from anchor pieces to finishing touches.   

“We aimed to create a complete collection that could furnish an entire room,” Wearstler says in a press release about the line. “It’s about offering inspiring and important pieces that can also become part of our everyday moments.”  

The collection also includes eight ready-to-wear pieces that speak to Wearstler’s love of fashion and just how intertwined the worlds of clothing and accessories and interior design can be. I’m betting the core furniture pieces will sell out quickly, but I can see the tabletop items moving fast as well, especially because they’re more affordable.
