Megan McCluskie, a casting director working in fashion and founder of Megan McCluskie Casting, and her husband, Gareth, weren’t exactly inspired by the outside of this 2000-square-foot, four-bedroom house in Folkestone, Kent.

“We found the house out of almost boredom. We’d seen a few properties, which we’d missed out on, as the market was so quick, and I’ll be honest — when we arrived, I wasn’t inspired by the outside. I thought it would be a quick in and out,” Megan begins.

“But once inside, it all started to make sense really quickly and I was already redecorating spaces in my head. We feel really lucky to have found our little corner,” she continues.

The couple actually planned to renovate their house slowly. But after only two years in the place, she reports they’ve almost finished with renovations.

The custom radiator tables are by Scumblegoosie.

“I was a bit impatient to get going!” Megan admits. “There was a lot of stripping of old wallpaper, plastering, and we redid the kitchen and bathrooms completely but thankfully no big structural changes were needed, we worked with what was there. We opened out the kitchen into an old and grotty lean-to conservatory, which is now a happy dining space.”

Another area of the home they turned into something else was the balcony, which Megan says the previous owner had covered. The couple had planned to open the space back up, but says that “in the end it’s become the most useful office space.”

Although they’ve already accomplished a lot in their home, Megan admits she’s not sure if you can “ever really be finished” when it comes to home renovating, saying she hopes her home’s decor continues to evolve over the years. You can follow along with that evolution on their home’s Instagram account, @home_folke.
